Welcome to Clarity Psychotherapy and Transformational Coaching

These are frequently asked questions about my service, which I thought it would be helpful to capture.

Where does the psychotherapy or transformational coaching take place, and how long do sessions last?

Sessions last 50 minutes.

To ensure maximum flexibility and comfort for my clients and I offer multiple channels for our sessions. You can work with me face-to-face at my studio or your office, by telephone, using ‘Zoom’ – or by using a combination of all three.

Face-to-face is often deemed to be the most successful for clients, however I appreciate work/family commitments can restrict a client and I therefore I am happy to support the most appropriate solution for the client.

What times can I have my sessions?

Sessions last 50 minutes.

I work weekdays and evenings, and on some weekends. I will endeavour to flex to your needs, as long as it fits within my schedule.

How many sessions will I need, and how often will my sessions be?

This very much depends on where you are now and what you’d like to achieve. I recommend ten sessions for both psychotherapy and transformational coaching, but I am content to be flexible dependent on personal needs/financial restrictions. I offer open-ended coaching, which means that you determine how long you wish to continue coming to sessions.

If we agree to work together, we can discuss this fully to ensure that you receive the support that’s best for you.

What happens between my sessions?

In many transformational coaching journeys, we may formulate specific tasks or actions to undertake between sessions to help you move forwards, and a plan what you will carry out before the next session.

However, often within psychotherapy, the time between the sessions is an important time for reflection and contemplation on next steps or actions you may want to undertake and explore.

Do I need to prepare anything before our chemistry session?

Before our chemistry session, I will ask you to complete a short questionnaire, to ascertain your sense of current challenges and goals. This will help ensure our initial time together is spent as productively as possible.

What about confidentiality?

In line with my membership of and accreditation with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and International Coaching Federation (ICF) I adhere to strong ethical guidelines that ensure all information will be discussed in strictest confidence. I will never disclose anything discussed, unless I deem you are of risk to yourself or others, or by requirements placed on me by law.

How can I get the best out of psychotherapy and transformational coaching?

Psychotherapy and coaching are a collaborative endeavour, so be ready to put energy and commitment into our work. This includes prioritising ‘me time’ for yourself to prepare for your sessions, engaging fully in your sessions in the moment, emailing your reflections and insights after sessions, carrying out any actions or assignments we may agree, and responding to review questions I will send you from time to time to help us measure progress and fine-tune your therapy or coaching.

In each session, have your diary with you and pen and paper to jot down thoughts, insights and actions. The notes that you take can very positively influence the quality and effectiveness of our work together, as (of course!) will carrying out any agreed actions.

I’m not sure if psychotherapy or coaching is for me – how can I find out?

Have a chat with me. I offer a free, informal, no obligation chat on the telephone (usually, this lasts about 20 minutes) to help you decide if coaching or therapy is right for you.
